How to Clear App Cache on Android
Clear app cache on Android in twenty seconds: what it deletes, what it keeps, and when it fixes streaming glitches.

A bloated app cache is behind a surprising number of streaming glitches: frozen thumbnails, search that returns nothing, and streams that refuse to start. Clearing it takes twenty seconds and fixes all three. Here is how, with notes for the Netplay APK.
What the cache actually is
Apps store temporary files to load faster: artwork, search history, bits of streams. Over weeks this pile grows stale and sometimes corrupts. Clearing it deletes only the temporary files. Your downloads, settings and logins stay exactly where they are.
The twenty-second method
- Open Android Settings and tap Apps.
- Find the app in the list and tap it.
- Tap Storage, then Clear cache.
That is the whole procedure. Do not tap Clear data or Clear storage on the same screen; that wipes the app back to a fresh install, downloads included.
When to clear the cache
Clear it when something behaves oddly: thumbnails that never load, a search box that finds nothing, or a player stuck on a loading spinner while your connection is fine. For streaming apps, once a month is a good rhythm even without symptoms. Our troubleshooting checklist starts here for a reason: it is the fastest fix with the least downside.
Cache vs data: do not mix them up
Clear cache removes temporary files and is always safe. Clear data removes everything, including offline downloads and settings, and is the nuclear option. If a guide tells you to clear data first, find a better guide. Start with the cache; escalate only if the problem survives, as described in our buffering fixes.
Quick Answers
Does clearing cache delete my downloads?
No. Clearing cache removes only temporary files. Downloads, settings and logins are untouched.
How often should I clear the app cache?
Once a month is plenty for streaming apps, or whenever thumbnails break and search misbehaves.
What is the difference between clear cache and clear data?
Clear data wipes the app back to a fresh install, including downloads. Clear cache only removes temporary files.
